One would probably think that rain could not do too much damage to your vehicle, but surprisingly, it can. To be honest, anything excessive can be an issue and this goes for rain as well.
Any car is susceptible to excessive water damage especially older model vehicles, as the ignition system is not electronic. This makes the rainwater more accessible to your engine.
Now, newer car models that are electronic make it harder for the rain to access the engine, but if the water levels are higher than normal, then it too can find its way into your engine.
Driving when it is lightly raining is not going to ruin your engine, but driving in heavy downpours, during flash floods or any flooding situation is definitely going to show you how easily rain can be an enemy for your engine.
During these rainy spring months, be mindful of flooded areas in your community and on your commutes and steer clear of locations that have been deemed hazardous to drive through. I want to keep you safe and the road to your destination!
